Fellow Anglers,
The Sinbad Classic 2009 will be the fifth edition of this, Arabia's most prestigious sport fishing event. Following on from the theme for the 2008 event, the tournament will once again focus on "Sustainability through Sport" and in so doing continue to promote awareness of dwindling fish stocks throughout the world.

By allowing its competitors to contribute to lowering the carbon emissions created during the event and in so doing lowering the carbon footprint of the event, the competitors will have the option of paying a nominal carbon tax per boat. In this way the event hopes to achieve even more with the foundation that has already been laid.

The Sinbad Classic 2009 event will once again feature great prizes for all participants but will be changing the format to a Big Fish event in each catagory. For more information stay tuned to the website [www.sinbadclassic.com] or email - jassim"at"intevents.com

Morning Gents,

No worries Ian, thanks for providing the excellent forum. I think it would be a great idea to have Fish Emirates team..(or 2).

Intevents are adding a few more events to the Middle East Fishing Tournament Schedule with events in Fujairah (January 2009) and Salalah (March-April 2009) to form the ‘Middle East Sinbad Series’.

The Fujairah event will be hosted by Le Meridien Al Aqah, where we will all be enjoying a fantastic final evening prize giving, preferential rates for rooms (on availability), transport to and from the Marina each morning and night and absolutely superb hospitality throughout.

We are extremely excited to be running the Fujairah event and we reckon that it will be a superb event. The event will be called the East Coast Classic and will run from the 29-31 January with the skippers briefing being on the evening of the 28th at the Le Meridien Al Aqah hotel.

Prizes will again be on the level of the Sinbad 2008, where the Best individual Angler recieved a Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch and the Best team recieved a 8 day holiday to South Africa all expenses included, with 4 days fishing round Cape Point, Safaris, the lot!!
The wide range of prize categories means that everyone takes something home, even if it is just a wooden spoon!

Hi everyone - TD here for the Sinbad Classic, The East Coast Classic and our newest event, the Sinbad Billfish Bonanza.

As Jassim has mentioned above we have two great events lined up for 2009 and hope to see you all there. Stay tuned to the website and this forum for more details.

Our newest event though is the Sinbad Billfish Bonanza which will take place in April 2009, 2-4, and will the first of its kind in the region. Firstly it will be a catch and release tournament, in line with the IGFA recommendations and secondly it will be the richest tournament ever fished.

If you haven't received the newsletter please email one of us and we can add you to the list but a brief overview of the event is this:

$40 000 entrance fee per boat - $150 000 winner takes all first prize! Added to this you will be treated like royalty for a few days, receive amazing merchandise, all the food and grog you can eat and drink, superb fishing in the height of Billfish season in Oman and oh ... did I mention the opportunity to win $150K!!!

If you think you have what it takes get in touch as we will be limiting the event to 15 boats!

Remember everyone - fish right - take what you need and release the rest.

Tight lines
Bruce

Hey Chaps and Chapesses,

TD here for the 2009 Sinbad Classic.

Well the event is only a short 17 days away until the welcome evening and skippers briefing and the good news is...
THE TUNA ARE HERE! We have had some incredible catches over the last few days with the biggest being around the 90kg mark. There is heaps of bait fish around from sards to makeral so knocking on wood and fingers crossed it is looking like an incredible display of just how Neptune can deliver if he really wants to.

A Quick request would be that if you are bringing a boat down or you are keen on fishing the event, please be sure to register online as soon as possible to ensure that we get as many sizes right as we can for the merchandise... after all there is nothing worse than a muscle hugging fishing shirt

For more info and the Rules please log on to www.sinbadclassic.com

Supporting the development in Sport Fishing in the Region,

Tightlines and good fishing

Bruce
