Does anybody know where to get decent quality fly tackle such as sage or orvis.

I am looking to do a trip to sri lanka and maldives later in year and have no tackle with me in Dubai. Need to get a decent reel, line, rod , flies etc...
Any ideas for online delivery or local stores would be good.

Generally i have not fly fished much on saltwater but mainly fresh so would look to get a decent setup for fly fishing holidays and local once the season starts again.

Tacklebloke cheers for the fly fishing blog on how to you listed.

regards,

Gareth

Hey Gareth,

Ocean Active have some great gear. Contact Nick Bowles on 050-4592259.

We should be getting some stock of St. Croix, in the not too distant future but unfortunately it won't be here before you go away :( www.tackleshop-me.com launches on the 1st August HOPEFULLY :)

You can also try Barracuda in the Marina or on the Corniche Road in Deira as they have some gear also, don't know what they have though. Send Mr. Abbas Hassani and email as he is offering 10% discount to Fish Emirates members so you might be in luck :)

Can I suggest that you look at http://www.kaufmannsstreamborn.com/ based in the US?

They have a good range of all the gear that you could possibly want.

Bought some tackle from them at the start of the year and it all arrived in approx 7 days with not much paid for shipping.

Plus you are buying in Dollars to which the Dirham is linked.

Dear Gareth,

Was very impressed with the service.

Any thing that was out of stock they deducted from the invoice and emailed me to tell me that they did not have.

Things came well wrapped, therefore no breakages, nor no missing / lost items.

And good value for money - especially as I am used to buying in the UK where saltwater ff gear seems to come at a premium (on top of the insane pound to dollar exchange rate that we have been experiencing for the past 2 years).

Tight lines,

Peter
