Hi,

the shops are located besides the Post office, which is behind the Public library on Baniyas street.

Last I remembered....the day I left Dubai, there were few tackle shops at the Al-Ras area.

1) Al Aneed

2) Sea Star

3) Al Fajar Marine

All these three shops are located in the same building in between the Fire Station/Civil defence building and the Deira Post Box facility.

When taking the Bani-yas road from Radison SAS hotel heading towards the fish market, at the round about infront of the Public Library, take the first exit. You will automatically find yourself driving infront of the building which is at your right. Parking spaces might be quite a problem there.

Driving further about 100m+, you will come to a signal which will only allow you to drive to the left to join the main road. To the right side, you will see a big showroom selling Mercury outboard engines. The shop is also dealing in few tackles, a bit pricier than the other three though. Can't really recall the actual name of the shop but its Al "something" Amrine and Agricultural Equipment Supplier.

Hope the above helps, Ciao!

Oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooops!

FORGOTTEN to also mention Ian's shop......SORRY!!!!

Hi Ian,

Just managed to get everything sorted out and had just had few (very short) fresh water casting sessions for the local variety of the snakeheads.....without much success....YET! Still trying to learn the tricks.

Haven't had much of a chance to do any slat water fishing BUT planning to go offshore this coming SUNDAY.

One of the local fisherman had just caught a BIG grouper...tipping the scale at 150kgs!!!!!! THAT TOO on a HANDLINE! He was almost pulled overboard then quickly decided to just tie the line to the bow of his boat and start dragging the fish to exhaust it. Only realised the size of the fish upon reaching the shore.

Ciao!

The feared brown grouper (don't know the real name but thats what my family/friends call them). I've caught a few, realized the ones I got must have been infants =/. I'm glad to see the grouper population in increased size lately. I've been catching very large hammour lately, and the smallest I've caught in the last 3 weeks is big compared to my old standards.

EDIT: forgot to mention, the ones I caught were at largest around 75cm, my good friend caught one at a little over 1m though.
